This week, CIC Services attended the World Captive Forum (WCF) in Boca Raton, Florida.  One of the large focal points of the conference was the impending change facing the insurance industry, fueled by the “Sharing Economy” and “extreme risks” like cyber, flood and terrorism.  In this shifting landscape, captive insurance companies (CICs) are expected to proliferate as they can provide more efficient risk-transfer structures for their parent companies.  Emerging risks are expected to outpace

It would seem that the IRS wants small captive insurance company owners and captive managers to have a Happy New Year.  The Service just released Notice 2017-08, extending the filing requirements deadline imposed by Notice 2016-66 back from January 30, 2017 to May 1, 2017.

This is great news for small captives and the captive industry.  It will enable captive managers, owners and advisors to thoughtfully and thoroughly prepare filings for submission to the IRS.

CIC Services will be following up with captive owners in 2017 to prepare filings required by 2016-66.
